With more than 90 years of history, Domingo Alonso Group has grown from a small family business into a benchmark in the automotive sector. Our story is a journey of innovation, commitment, and growth, always driven by passion for what we do.

  • 1935
    The story of Domingo Alonso begins in the Canary Islands with the export of agricultural products. Building on its experience and international relationships, some years later Domingo Alonso embarked on a new chapter as an automobile importer.
  • 1953
    Domingo Alonso became the importer of Volkswagen for the Canary Islands. This agreement made it the fourth oldest importer of the brand worldwide.
  • 1966
    Domingo Alonso was incorporated as a public limited company, establishing its registered office at the well-known Calle León y Castillo, 33 in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria.
  • 1967
    Domingo Alonso became the market leader with the Volkswagen brand and received the 5,000th Beetle directly from Wolfsburg, the headquarters of the German manufacturer.
  • 1975
    Domingo Alonso signed the import contract for the Audi brand in the Canary Islands.
  • 1987
    The import of MAN vehicles was secured for the province of Las Palmas. Since 1952, Domingo Alonso had already been marketing these vehicles in the Canary Islands.
  • 1994
    The Genial Auto dealership was established in the province of Las Palmas to represent the Citroën brand.
  • 1995
    The import of the Volkswagen brand for the Canary Islands was reinstated and later extended to Ceuta and Melilla. A few years afterwards, Domingo Alonso also became the importer of the brand in Gibraltar.
  • 1998
    ŠKODA began to be managed by Domingo Alonso as its exclusive importer in the Canary Islands.
  • 1998
    The Cuatromoción dealership was inaugurated on the island of Tenerife to represent the brands Volkswagen, Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles, ŠKODA and Audi.
  • 1998
    Domingo Alonso Group began its international expansion with the import of Volkswagen, SEAT, ŠKODA, Audi and MAN in Cabo Verde.
  • 1999
    The media agency SoporteMedia is founded.
  • 1999
    The Logistics Centre in Arinaga, Gran Canaria, was inaugurated to handle storage and management of spare parts and accessories, among other logistical functions.
  • 2000
    Domingo Alonso Group has expanded into the Latin American market by entering Venezuela with the Volkswagen, Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles, ŠKODA, SEAT, Audi, Porsche, and Ducati brands.
  • 2000
    The importer for MAN Industrial Vehicles was established.
  • 2002
    Domingo Alonso Group became a patron of the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria with the donation of the sculpture “El Pensador” by the sculptor Martín Chirino.
  • 2004
    The advertising agency Doctorjob was founded.
  • 2004
    Domingo Alonso Group became the importer of the Bentley brand.
  • 2005
    The Domingo Alonso Gran Canaria dealership was inaugurated in Gran Canaria.
  • 2006
    Domingo Alonso Group became the importer of the Lamborghini brand.
  • 2007
    Domingo Alonso Group SIMA (Integrated Automotive Management System). It is a tool designed for both the importer and dealerships to manage workshops, spare parts, commercial activities, and administration.

    AVIS joined the group as a rent-a-car company.
  • 2007
    The Domingo Alonso Children's Nursery opened its doors with the aim of facilitating family and work-life balance.
  • 2008
    VAS Colombia was founded as the importer of the Audi, Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles, and SEAT brands.
  • 2008
    Domingo Alonso Group created Desarrollo Avanzado Logístico, for the management and organisation of goods transportation and warehousing, as well as the tracking of vehicles from factory to dealerships.
  • 2008
    Aplicaciones Informáticas Domingo Alonso (AIDA) was established as the company's commitment to innovation and technology.
  • 2010
    BBVA awarded Domingo Alonso Group the “Outstanding Company” accolade.
  • 2011
    Together with Grupo Salvador Caetano, operations were initiated as importers of the Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles, SEAT, and Audi brands in Angola.
  • 2013
    Hyundai Canarias became part of Domingo Alonso Group.
  • 2013
    Efficiency Cars was founded to offer mobility solutions to companies through medium- and long-term leasing operations.
  • 2015
    Domingo Alonso Group became the importer and distributor of Ducati for the Canary Islands.
  • 2016
    Honda Canarias became part of Domingo Alonso Group as the official importer for the entire archipelago.
  • 2017
    Domingo Alonso Group inaugurates innovative facilities in Tenerife.
  • 2017
    The first Volkswagen Digital Store was inaugurated in Gran Canaria, symbolising the group's digital transformation.
  • 2017
    Xtravans is born, a new commercial vehicle rental platform for private customers and businesses.
  • 2017
    Bringo is established, a commercial division of DAL, with the aim of leading the distribution of genuine spare parts in the Canary Islands.
  • 2017
    DTO (Digital Transformation Office) is created to drive digital transformation and achieve the goal of becoming a data-driven company.
  • 2017
    Domingo Alonso Group entered the shareholding of the Portuguese holding company Salvador Caetano.
  • 2018
    Hyundai Canarias opened new facilities in Tenerife.
  • 2018
    Domingo Alonso Group receives the “Canary Islands Award for Excellence in Human Resources”.

    Domingo Alonso Group becomes the importer for the Canary Islands of the Silence brand, offering 100% electric scooters.
  • 2018
    The group returns to Colombia by taking over the management of Colwagen, a dealership representing Volkswagen Group brands as well as brands like Honda and Hyundai, among others.

    Hyundai Canarias received the “Distributor of the Year” award granted by the Korean manufacturer.

    The agencies SoporteMedia and DoctorJob merged, giving rise to TWO.

    Domingo Alonso Group is awarded at the 7th edition of the Faconauto Awards in the category “Innovation and Digitalisation”

    The board of directors of Domingo Alonso Group appoints Erich Krohn, replacing Cecile Rohner, wife of Sergio Alonso.

    Domingo Alonso Group, in response to the Covid-19 pandemic, made more than 135 vehicles available to healthcare professionals to ensure the safest possible mobility under the initiative #UnCocheParaUnHéroe.
